WHO WE ARE

Over 40 years ago, four little girls became friends. In 2017, we turned 50 years young!  Not only did we want the celebration to be extra special, we wanted to create a legacy. It is important to us that when we transition to the heavenly side that the dash between date of birth and date of rest have meaning.  What did we do?  Since each of us attended Hopewell Elementary School, varying in the number of years we attended, we decided to give back to Hopewell community.  What does giving back look like for us?  We wanted it to be equally fun and engaging, as well as rewarding for us and the community.  We created the BSDE Scholarship.

What is the BSDE Scholarship?  It is a Scholarship created by Brigitte Easterling-Cameron, Sharron Barnes-McGee, Denise Edison-Ashford and Elisha Barnes-Booth.  We formed BSDE, Inc. to sponsor the scholarship.  We are a non-profit organization with 501 (c)3 status.

WHAT WE DO

We provide scholarships to high school seniors who will be attending college or vocational school.  Our goal is to attend the awards day ceremony at the local area high schools (i.e., Collins, Seminary, Mt. Olive) and present the winners of the scholarship each year.  In addition, we plan to participate in Hopewell Elementary (Collins, Mississippi) awards day program and offer recognition (e.g., various categories) awards to a few students.  We will also be exploring some volunteer work with the school a couple of times a year.  We also provide community support to the families in the areas that we serve.
