WHO WE ARE
Over 45 years ago, four young girls became friends. In 2017, as we celebrated turning 50, we wanted to do something meaningful—something that would leave a lasting legacy. For us, it’s not just about the years we live, but the impact we make in between.
Since we all attended Hopewell Elementary School, though for different lengths of time, we chose to give back to the Hopewell community in a way that was both rewarding and engaging. From this vision, the BSDE Scholarship was born.
What is the BSDE Scholarship?
The BSDE Scholarship was established by Brigitte Easterling-Cameron, Sharron Barnes-McGee, Denise Edison-Ashford, and Elisha Barnes-Booth. To support this initiative, we founded BSDE, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering students through education.

WHAT WE DO
We provide scholarships to high school seniors who will be attending college or vocational school. Our goal is to attend the awards day ceremony at the local area high schools (i.e., Collins, Seminary, Mt. Olive) and present the winners of the scholarship each year. In addition, we plan to participate in Hopewell Elementary (Collins, Mississippi) awards day program and offer recognition (e.g., various categories) awards to a few students. We will also be exploring some volunteer work with the school a couple of times a year. We also provide community support to the families in the areas that we serve.
